2010 in review - best EPs/demos/non-album

Pretty self-explanatory, really - this is where every release that isn't a full-length album goes. There were a lot of good ones, but I narrowed my list down to my favourite ten. For once, alphabetized and not ordered by preference.

ALL PIGS MUST DIE All Pigs Must Die
For once, a supergroup that actually works, with people from Converge, The Hope Conspiracy and Bloodhorse and with the typically great Kurt Ballou recording and mixing, it's a blackened mass of unrestrained fury. Expect to see this name thrown around a lot in 2011.

ANION Corpse Flower
The band of the week feature I did with them really says it all - they rock and I'm anxious for an album.

AUTOPSY The Tomb Within
Autopsy are back, and they haven't changed one iota! You're not a death metal fan if your panties aren't still all soiled by this.

DEAFHEAVEN DFHVN
Yet another huge discovery from this year that also warranted a very deserved band of the week feature. Bring on an album!

MAGRUDERGRIND Crusher
GRRRRRRIND!

MURDER CONSTRUCT Murder Construct
GRRRRRRIND! And it's another supergroup! Leon DelMuerte, Danny Walker, Kevin Bernier, Caleb Schneider and Travis Ryan make up for another future huge name.

ROTTEN SOUND Napalm
Erm, GRRRRRRIND! The best grind band right now covering the best grind band ever. With a couple of new songs thrown in for good measure. If your grind bone isn't well oiled by this, dunno what will.

ROYAL THUNDER Royal Thunder
I can't talk about this because I'm still under its fucking spell, listening to it every day. It's like a disease. Go to the band of the week feature I did on them or something.

TAINT All Bees To The Sea
In the same year, they give us the best release of their career, some of the best shows they ever did and then they fucking split up. Gah.

TRAP THEM Filth Rations
Dirty, brutal, groovy, on vinyl and tape only. It's Trap Them and I fully expect their forthcoming album to be on the proper album list next year. Top 3, at least.
